A private gift request can be personal, direct and human, but it should never be vague. Serious patrons, advisers and family offices need to know what is being requested, what is not being offered, and which decisions remain entirely voluntary.
Clear language protects everyone
Transparency starts by naming the request correctly. A voluntary personal gift is not a charity donation, investment, loan, purchase, raffle, lottery or equity arrangement.
What patrons should be able to check

- The payment route and who processes it.
- Whether anything is promised in return.
- Whether anonymity or discretion is available.
Why direct giving still needs boundaries
Private patronage can be powerful precisely because it is direct. But direct does not mean careless. Clear boundaries make the request easier to review and easier to decline or accept freely.
